How to Send Art Files (Even If You’re Not a Designer)

  • We work with a wide range of artwork styles and file types — from vector logos to hand-drawn sketches. Whether you’re submitting a polished design or just an idea, our team is here to help turn it into a finished product that looks great and is production-ready.

Most of our items — like our gift boxed engraved metal keychains, laser-engraved carabiners, and die struck pins and coins — require clean, high-contrast artwork for the best results. For these types of items, vector files (such as AI, PDF, or EPS) are ideal. Vector artwork is made from shapes and paths rather than pixels, which means it stays sharp no matter how much we scale or adjust it. That’s especially important for detailed engraving or stamping. By contrast, raster images like JPEGs or PNGs are made of pixels — they can look fuzzy or lose detail when resized or converted.

"Vector vs. Raster" bottom line: Vector files stay sharp at any size, like fonts. Raster images are made of pixels and can blur if they are not high enough resolution (don't contain enough pixels for the intended purpose). Image shown is an approximation.

If you’re not sure whether you have the right kind of file, don’t worry — just send what you have and we’ll take a look. In many cases, asking your marketing or design department if they have a vector logo on file will do the trick. We’re also happy to advise on cleanup or redrawing options if needed.

If you’re a designer or working with a creative team, we absolutely welcome press-ready vector artwork and understand the care that goes into prepping it.

For full-color options — such as our full color custom vinyl keychains, full-color dog tags, or CMYK-printed pins and coins — we use specialized printing methods. Vinyl keychains are inkjet-printed and can even be cut to shape, making them great for logos and mascots. Coins can incorporate photo-based CMYK printing in the central area (like a portrait or building), while pins can be fully printed edge to edge.

Whatever the product or artwork style, you’ll always receive a digital proof before production — even on reorders. We’ll make sure everything is correct, and work with you to revise the layout as needed at no extra cost.

    Frequently Asked Questions

Can I send an image of something I had done elsewhere / previously?
Yes — and it’s often helpful. A clear photo or scan of a previous item can help us recreate or match it accurately, even if you don’t have the original files.

What if I need help creating my image?
Just let us know what you're going for. Send over anything you have — logo files, photos, sketches, or even text — and our team will take it from there.

    What file types are best?
Vector files like AI, PDF, or EPS are best, especially for engraved or die-struck products. High-res PNG or JPG files can work for printed items. If you're unsure, send what you have — we’ll review and advise.

    What’s a vector file, again?
A vector file is artwork built from clean shapes and lines — not pixels — so it stays sharp at any size. They're perfect for engraving or die striking, and are the classic format for creating logos, and are what make up fonts (which is why they can scale, yet are always crisp). Ask your marketing or graphics department if they have a vector logo handy.

Can I include multiple images or sides in my design?
Definitely. Many of our products support front and back customization. Let us know what goes where, and we’ll make sure your proof shows both sides clearly.

Will I see a proof before production?
Yes. Every custom order includes a digital proof for your approval. We won’t start production until we get your approval.
