Why We Don't Charge Setup Fees

In the promotional products industry, setup fees are common—often justified as the cost of programming, templating, or preparing artwork before production. While these steps are real, we believe they're simply part of doing business.

We handle those steps in-house and believe they’re just part of doing business — not something that should be passed along as an extra fee for standard customization.

When Does a Setup Fee Apply?

Setup or tooling charges only apply in specific, non-standard situations:

• Back-side engraving on metal items – Adding a second engraving location requires an additional setup
• Multiple artwork versions within the same order – The first front-side setup is included; unique name changes, logo versions, or variations require separate setups
• Custom molds or dies for cast items – Fully custom coins, pins, buckles, or medals require a one-time mold/die creation fee
• Extra colors or extra locations – Applies when more than one standard imprint/engraving location is requested
