Full Color Coins: Photoreal Detail, Gloss Finish

Bring photos, gradients, and intricate illustrations to life with CMYK printing under durable epoxy

  • Full color, explained

Full color coins use CMYK offset printing to reproduce images, gradients, and photoreal details that can’t be achieved with traditional enamel fills. The image is printed on a substrate, inlaid into your coin’s recessed area, and sealed with a clear epoxy dome for lasting protection. The result is a smooth, glossy surface that displays even the most intricate designs in sharp detail.

    Where full color excels

    • Photorealistic images – Perfect for portraits, commemorative events, and scenery.
    • Smooth gradients – Reproduce subtle blends and shading without visible steps.
    • Detailed illustrations – Capture fine lines and color transitions with clarity.
    • Partial or full-face application – Apply to a portion of the design or cover nearly the entire face, framed by a custom metal border.

Each printed area is sealed under a thick, crystal-clear epoxy coating that’s as durable as enamel. It protects your image from scratches, moisture, and handling over years of use, while adding a sleek, glass-like finish.

Full color can be incorporated into coins made from our standard brass or, for extra-thick or specialty designs, zinc alloy. The surrounding metal can be plated in your choice of finishes — from bright gold to antique silver — so your full color area integrates seamlessly with the rest of your design.

When to choose something else? While full color is ideal for photographic images and gradient effects, vector logos and artwork defined with Pantone colors, and bold designs often look best with classic enamel fills. Our design team can recommend the approach that will make your artwork shine.
